Halo wars is the first real-time strategy game in the Halo universe. It was released in 2009 and was developed by Ensemble Studios and published by Microsoft Game Studios. The game takes place in the year 2531, 21 years before the events of Halo: Combat Evolved, during the First War between the Unified Earth Government and the Covenant. The player leads human military forces from the United Nations Space Command as they fight against the Covenant on the ancient Ark.
